Coppell ISD is scheduled in April to begin construction of a new fine arts building, expansion of its tennis center, and renovation of one of its elementary schools.

At Coppell High School, a 46,467-square-foot fine arts rehearsal building for band and choir students and staff will be built at an estimated construction cost of $23 million, along with the tennis center project that includes a 2,400-square-foot renovation of the existing facility and the addition of a 7,484-square-foot structure.

Also, Valley Ranch Elementary School will receive an estimated $23 million in improvements, according to a state filing. The project includes renovating the existing 75,199-square-foot school, building a new administrative wing and classroom wings, and a new storm shelter classroom wing. The additions total 21,210 square feet.

Both projects list the design firm as Corgan and have a scheduled delivery date of August 2025.

The construction is part of the $321 million bond package Coppell ISD voters approved in May that also included funding for improvements at every campus and security upgrades, as well as for technology upgrades and renovations at Buddy Echols Field.

About 13,000 students from Coppell, Cypress Waters, Lewisville, North Irving, and Valley Ranch attend the district. It has 11 elementary schools, three middle schools, a ninth-grade campus, two high schools, and an alternative school.

With a population of about 42,000, Coppell is located in northwest Dallas County. For 2022, the district received an accountability rating of “A” from the Texas Education Agency and has a graduation rate of 99%. Coppell ISD is expected to grow by 100 to 200 students annually over the next five years.
