Council Member Adam Bazaldua’s District 7 logged the most Dallas code violations in January, according to data maintained by the City of Dallas.
The City of Dallas code compliance performance dashboard notes that District 7 clocked 2,208 violations last month, the most out of the 14 Dallas City Council districts.
The dashboard tracks a number of code violations, such as:
- Litter on private property, alley, or parkway
- Brush/bulky trash out too early
- Accessory outside storage violation
- Litter on vacant lots and commercial properties
- Illegal land use
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, polling shows that residents have been generally upset with “the amount of trash, litter, or junk” in their neighborhoods and “elsewhere in the City of Dallas.”
The most prevalent code compliance violation recorded in District 7 last month was litter on private property, alley, or parkway at 381 incidents, followed by high weeds/grass at 196, accessory outside storage violation at 184, parking on unapproved surfaces at 119, and litter on vacant lots and commercial properties at 117.
As of February 25, District 7, which is located just southeast of Downtown Dallas, has clocked 3,730 code violations.
Relatedly, Council Member Bazaldua was recently ranked the least effective council member in DX’s January “Rank Your Council Member” survey. On a scale of 0-10, residents in his district who participated in the poll gave the council member a 0.3 for how well he has worked to improve city cleanliness and a 4.3 for improving park maintenance and cleanliness.
There have been 25,030 code compliance violations logged citywide so far this year. Of those violations, District 7 accounts for roughly 14.9%.
