Early voting locations for the March 5 primary election are officially open across North Texas as of Tuesday.
Officials in Dallas County have set up 64 voting centers across the county for early voting and will open 450 locations for Election Day. The Dallas County Elections Office briefed the County Commissioners Court on February 6 on these and other preparations, as well as on a short-term solution to solve connectivity issues with polling devices, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Early voting locations across Dallas County include North Garland Branch Library, MLK Jr Branch Library, Harry Stone Recreation Center, Marsh Lane Baptist Church, and many more. The locations this week will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from February 20 to February 23, according to the county elections office department website. Early voting will continue the rest of the month, from February 24 through March 1, with extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day except Sunday, when the polls will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced in a press release on February 20 that 17,948,242 million residents in the state of Texas registered for the primaries. This is up from approximately 14,366,382 registered voters in the state in January 2020.
Nelson also advised citizens to bring an approved photo ID, such as a Texas driver’s license, handgun license, passport, military ID, or Texas Election Identification Card, in order to participate in early voting.
“Early voting is a convenient way to cast your ballot and avoid the rush of Election Day,” said Secretary Nelson. “Now is a good time to plan when you will vote and decide what form of photo ID you will bring to the polls.”
