A Japanese fashion retailer is expected to open two stores in North Texas this year.

According to a state filing, a nearly 20,000-square-foot space is being renovated at the Galleria in Dallas for Uniqlo. The project, scheduled to begin in May, includes interior demolition and the installation of new fixtures, finishes, lighting, and a drinking fountain. It bears an estimated construction cost of more than $4.1 million, and the anticipated delivery date is October 18.

Galleria is home to more than 100 stores, including such brands as Francesca’s, Gucci, Michael Kors, Sephora, and Tiffany & Co. Meanwhile, prominent luxury brands Bachendorf’s Jewelers and Louis Vuitton have expanded their retail presence.

Dallas-based Bachendorf’s Jewelers completed its facelift on the first floor of the Galleria in November, adding a one-story Rolex boutique and more than 7,000 square feet of shopping space, according to the Advocate-Preston Hollow. Operating since 1977, Bachendorf’s is known for selling timeless pieces from luxury brands Rolex, Cartier, Jaeger LeCoultre, Chopard, Tudor, and David Yurman. The company has a solid footprint in Dallas-Fort Worth, with locations at Highland Park Village, The Plaza at Preston Center, and The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.

The Galleria’s other expansion project ended in November and included an upgrade to the mall’s existing Louis Vuitton store, according to the Advocate-Preston Hollow. Louis Vuitton’s upgraded store, which pays homage to the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation, offers a selection of leather goods, sunglasses, and accessories.

Uniqlo sells women’s, men’s, and children’s lines. The Dallas Morning News reported the company also plans to open a store at The Parks Mall at Arlington. Construction on the new store is expected to be completed in December. Uniqlo operates more than 50 locations across the U.S.

At The Parks Mall at Arlington, Uniqlo is opening at Suite 2070, according to the newspaper. The Arlington mall is home to more than 150 shops.

Uniqlo also has plans to open a store in Houston at the Memorial City Mall, as The Dallas Morning News reported.
