The Piehole Project Live! will be held in Dallas on Oct. 28 to benefit a good cause. The variety show is a collaboration among local chefs, comedians, and musicians who host a fun night to help fund culinary colleges.

The event is organized by Alison Matis and Cheryl Weis of FestEvents Foundations, benefiting Dallas College, Johnson & Wales, and more. FestEvents Foundations was founded in 2019 with a mission to “provide scholarships, professional development, and assistance to those looking to make a career in the restaurant industry,” per the organization’s website.

FestEvents also helps others who are not aspiring chefs. The foundation helped those in the restaurant business who were jobless during the pandemic, supplying them with meals.

“The restaurant and hospitality industries are a huge part of my life,” Co-founder Alison Matis shared when speaking with the Dallas Observer.

“I’ve been in them for almost 20 years, and my husband is a chef. It’s not always easy, but it is very rewarding, and there are great career opportunities in it.”

The Piehole Project will kick off with a cocktail hour followed by dinner prepared by fifteen amazing Dallas chefs; Bruno Davaillon, Anastasia Quiñones-Pittman, Janice Provost, Matt Balke, and more.

Live performances by musicians, comedians, professionals belly dancers, and other performers will also take place during the night of fun. The entertainment will precede an auction.

The much-anticipated pie action will give patrons a chance to win a fantastic pie from local professional bakers. If you cannot make it to the event, an online pie auction will take place between Oct. 18 through Oct. 28.

Bidding starts at $90.00 per pie with creations that include matcha pie, smoked crab dip pie, sweet green tomato pie, apricot sour cream crumble pie, water pie, black & white pie. Twelve pies will also be raffled off.

This year the event hopes to hit its goal of $25,000.
