Three more Dallas Cowboys have been added to the NFC roster for this weekend’s annual NFL Pro Bowl in Orlando.
Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, guard Tyler Smith, and tight end Jake Ferguson were among the players announced as replacements by the league on Tuesday morning.
According to DallasCowboys.com, Lawrence and Ferguson are replacing San Francisco 49ers Nick Bosa and tight end George Kittle, who are unavailable as they prepare for the Super Bowl. Smith will be replacing teammate Zack Martin because of injury. That gives the Cowboys 10 Pro Bowlers this season, with eight expected to compete in the Pro Bowl Games as CBS Sports lists Tampa’s Baker Mayfield as an injury replacement for Dak Prescott.
Lawrence makes the fourth Pro Bowl of his 10-year career after previously making it to the event in 2017, 2018, and last season. While his elite pass-rushing days appear to be behind him, he is still an incredibly productive run defender and finished the year with 10 tackles for loss (TFLs), the sixth time he has reached the double-digit mark in his career.
Second-years Smith and Ferguson make their first career Pro Bowls. Smith has become an anchor on the offensive line and settled in as the starting left guard for 14 games this season after making the All-Rookie Team during the 2022-23 campaign. The Cowboys have now had both their guards selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time since 1996.
Ferguson emerged as a go-to target after the departure of Dalton Schultz, catching 71 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns. He is the first Dallas tight end to make the Pro Bowl since Jason Witten in 2017.
Other notable replacements across the NFL include Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown, Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts, Buffalo’s Stefon Diggs, and Houston rookie Will Anderson Jr.
The 2024 Pro Bowl Games begin with skills competitions on Thursday and conclude with head-to-head competitions on Sunday.
