Kansas-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers plans to open a location in Plano by the end of the year.

The company already operates 10 stores in North Texas, including in McKinney, Frisco, and Keller. Construction of a 2,800-square-foot space in Plano is scheduled to begin in May, and the anticipated delivery date is November 29, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

Founded in 2022 by Bill and Randy Simon and their friend, Scott Redler, Freddy’s was named after the brothers’ father, a U.S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient. The Freddy’s menu includes chicken sandwiches, steak and veggie burgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, and cheese curls, as well as several flavors of frozen custard.

Earlier this month, Freddy’s announced it had opened a company-record 62 restaurants across the country in 2023, including its 500th location, and it is preparing for further expansion in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida.

“We maintained strong growth momentum throughout 2023, and I’m incredibly proud of the milestones we’ve been able to achieve,” said Freddy’s president and CEO Chris Dull.

“The success is a testament to our dedicated team and passionate network of franchisees who are committed to operating The Freddy’s Way and ensuring their restaurants promote our three core pillars — quality, hospitality, and cleanliness. We are fortunate to have best-in-class operators as partners, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them open their new Freddy’s restaurants.”

Freddy’s has more than 130 locations in its development pipeline, and about half are scheduled to open this year.
