The first week of January will begin and end with the potential for rain.

Tuesday will bring the metroplex a 90% chance of rain during the afternoon, mostly likely beginning around 3 p.m. Showers are expected to remain steady into the early evening.

The forecast for Tuesday through Saturday shows high temperatures in the low- to mid-50s and lows in the upper- to low-40s.

Showers will have the highest percentage of reemerging on Friday, with a 60% chance of rain in the morning and becoming scattered by the afternoon, according to The Weather Channel.

North Texans will likely not see temperatures reach 60 until the weekend. Sunday is expected to offer the warmest temperature of the first week of 2024, with a high of 60 and a low of 45. The clouds are expected to dissipate, providing plenty of sunshine.

Looking forward to next week, Monday, January 8, will kick off with a 75% chance of rain, followed by January 9, which will bring gusty northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph.

Looking at the forecast, the risk of allergy symptoms will rise from low on Tuesday, January 2, to moderate for the remainder of the week.
