Residents of Collin County also have the opportunity to vote on two other key offices in 2024: a new sheriff and county tax assessor-collector.

Where the leader of the Office of the Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer for the county, the tax assessor-collector, as the title indicates, oversees the taxes both assessed and collected across the county, in addition to enforcing the collection of motor vehicle fees.

Incumbent Sheriff Jim Skinner, a Republican, faces competition in the primary election in the form of Sherwood Holmes, a police sergeant from Plano.

Collin County’s longtime tax assessor-collector, Ken Maun, is not seeking re-election in the coming year. Three Republicans and one Democrat are set to appear on the primary ballot.

Collin County residents will also be able to vote on two seats on its Commissioners Court. Incumbent Susan Fletcher, a Republican, plans to once again seek her position as a county commissioner of Precinct 1, which covers roughly the northwest quadrant of Collin County, while Darrell Hale once again will seek his Precinct 3 county commissioner seat, spanning the southeast quadrant of the county. Hale has a challenger in the Republican primary this coming March, in addition to a Democratic opponent.

The following candidates have been approved by the Texas Secretary of State to appear on the ballot for the Republican and Democratic parties for the primary election on March 5. Early voting is set to kick off on February 20.

Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by last name where applicable.
