Two commissioner seats on the Collin County Commissioners Court will appear on the 2024 general election ballot, with two Republican incumbents resurfacing their names on the primary ballot this coming March.
The Collin County Commissioners Court deals in matters of justice, infrastructure, public safety, public health and certain taxes, implementing state policies and determining others for the North Texas county. They also have a say in extending economic incentives and the participation in tax increment reinvestment zones, among other duties.
Incumbent Susan Fletcher, a Republican, plans to once again seek her position as a county commissioner of Precinct 1, which covers roughly the northwest quadrant of Collin County. She is running unopposed in both the primary and general elections.
Incumbent Darrell Hale will face Jim Garrison in the Republican primary election for the Precinct 3 county commissioner seat, which deals primarily with the southeast quadrant of Collin County. The Republican primary victor is likely to face Democrat Yvette Johnson in the general election, the only opponent in the running in the primary on the other side of the aisle.
The following candidates have been approved by the Texas Secretary of State to appear on the ballot for the Republican and Democratic parties for the primary election on March 5. Early voting is set to kick off on February 20.
