The city of Fort Worth has detailed a number of its offices and departments that will be closed during the holidays this year. These closures will affect most of these offices, save for emergency services.
In a news release, the city of Fort Worth announced on December 16 that there will be no solid waste collection services on December 25 or January 1, and trash pick up will operate on a temporarily adjusted schedule from Christmas Day to January 6.
“If your normal pickup day is Monday, your pickup will be shifted to Tuesday; Tuesday collections shift to Wednesday; Wednesday collections shift to Thursday; Thursday collections shift to Friday; Friday collections shift to Saturday,” read the city’s website.
Local residents will be allowed to set two extra bags of trash out for collection the day after Christmas and New Year’s. Normal collection schedules are expected to resume on January 8.
Fort Worth’s Environmental Collection Center and drop-off locations will also be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and will reopen the next day.
All Fort Worth public libraries will be closed from December 24 through December 25.
“On December 25, all community centers, Haws Athletic Center, FW@6 programs, Log Cabin Village and the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge will be closed. The water features at the Water Gardens will be turned off,” said the city on its website.
“All municipal golf courses will be closed Christmas Day. All municipal golf courses will be back to regular operating hours beginning December 26.”
The North Animal Campus and Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center will open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on December 24 for adoptions and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for intakes but will be closed on Christmas Day.
The Hulen and Alliance PetSmart Adoption Centers will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve but will be closed on December 25. The will reopen on December 26.

Trinity Metro will also be operating on an amended schedule on Christmas Day.
Municipal offices in Dallas will also be closed over the holidays. Dallas department closures include sanitation, parks and recreation, water utilities, libraries, and animal services, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
