North Texans will have an abundance of Christmas events this year as one local city decks the halls.
The city of Grapevine will be hosting over a thousand Christmas-themed events throughout the holiday season. Some of these will be held in well-known locations like the Gaylord Texan.
The “Christmas Capital of Texas” announced that it will have 1,400 Christmas events over 40 days this holiday season. Some of these events will be recurring daily and extend into early next year. Events will take place at numerous locations and attractions, including a Christmas Market at Town Square, the Urban Wine Trail, Grapevine Mills shopping, restaurants, and more, according to the city’s website.
Visitors can take part in several events and attractions this week, such as recurring performances of the Texas Tenors: Deep in the Heart of Christmas show at the Palace Theatre, Winter Wonderland at the Hotel Vin, a tribute concert to late singers Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin at the Palace Theatre, the Merry and Bright Christmas Drone Show at Grapevine Main Station, and much more throughout the season.
The Gaylord Texan announced earlier this year that its annual ICE! sculpture exhibit would be themed after the popular 2000s Christmas special How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Guests can view ten scenes from the story carved from over 2,000,000 pounds of ice. Visitors can also enjoy a two-story ice slide, drinks, and much more, according to a press release.
North Texans may also enjoy a “Texas-sized” ice rink at Peace Plaza, which boasts a 60-foot Christmas tree.
Great Wolf Lodge and Trinity Metro TEXRail have partnered to bring the North Pole Express to the Grapevine area. Patrons will embark on short journeys in 1920s-era coach cars pulled by “vintage locomotives” with numerous family activities, including photo ops with Santa Claus.
“North Pole Express excursions must depart at their scheduled time and are not able to delay departure to accommodate late arrivals,” read the city’s website. “It is recommended that guests arrive in Grapevine at least an hour and a half prior to their scheduled departure times to secure parking and to make your way to the North Pole Village.”
