Some restaurants in Dallas had some surprising health code violations despite passing their most recent inspection.
The City of Dallas released its latest health code inspection data for restaurants and eateries in the area. Although no restaurants logged failing scores that warrant closure, some did clock violations.
The most recent data set features restaurants inspected by code compliance officials between October 15 and November 14.
City health inspectors grade the city’s eating establishments on a 100-point scale. Those establishments that earn a score of 70 or above are considered passing, while those with a score of 69 or below are considered failing, according to the City of Dallas.
Restaurants with scores of 80 to 100 are only required to submit to regular inspections every six months. Establishments that score between 70 and 79 require re-inspection within 30 days, and those scoring between 60 and 69 must pass an additional review within 10 days or face closure.
Any entities that score below 60 are required to close immediately and must undergo re-inspection before they can open again.
Of the 269 entities inspected by city officials between October 15 and November 14, no Dallas restaurant scored below 69, and 35 entities, or about 13%, earned perfect health inspection scores.
However, inspectors noted observing live roaches in some locations. These included Taqueria La Union at 6326 C. F. Hawn Freeway, with a score of 75; Mr. Taco, located at 1314 S. Buckner Blvd. Ste 316, with a score of 85; and La Madeleine, located at 8687 N. Central Expressway 640, with a score of 86.
