High school football teams throughout Texas battled each other in the UIL regional finals this weekend. Here is what happened in the games involving the Dallas-Fort Worth area high schools:

FRIDAY 12/01

DeSoto 59, Cedar Hill 16 — 6A Division II

DeSoto beat Cedar Hill for the second time this season. The Eagles broke the game open with two touchdowns late in the first quarter to go up 21-2 and forced a total of four turnovers that led to 21 points throughout the game. Quarterback DJ Bailey led the way with 261 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Frisco Emerson 59, Colleyville Heritage 48 — 5A Division II

Oklahoma quarterback commit Michael Hawkins led Frisco Emerson past Colleyville Heritage in a rematch of last year’s bi-district loss. Hawkins accounted for over 400 yards of offense and six touchdowns as the Mavericks earned a spot in the state semifinals in just their second varsity season despite allowing over 600 yards to the Luke Allrich-led Heritage offense.

Forney 43, Lancaster 41 (overtime) — 5A Division I

Forney is going to the state semifinals for the first time in 21 years after a two-point win over Lancaster in double overtime on Friday. A blocked field goal attempt just before halftime kept the Jackrabbits within one score, and their second-half comeback forced overtime, during which a successful two-point conversion gave them the win.

Aledo 56, Abilene 21 — 5A Division I

Aledo has now won 28 consecutive games and reached the state semifinal round for the 13th time in the last 15 years. TCU quarterback commit Hauss Hejny threw for over 200 yards and added 103 on the ground in the win.

Anna 41, Stephenville 21 — 4A Division I

Anna has been building toward its big moment for the last few years and seized the opportunity, clinching its first-ever appearance in the state semifinals. A late first-half scoring burst allowed the Coyotes to erase a four-point deficit and take a 24-14 lead, and they carried that momentum into the second half for the win.
