A $20 million addition to a Stream Data Centers campus in southern Dallas County is scheduled to begin in a month.

It is part of the Dallas company’s broader effort to support its Fortune 100 clients through build-to-suit data center facilities, particularly in North Texas — a strategy other companies share because of the region’s increased capacity, The Dallas Express reported in March.

Near I-45 and East Belt Line Road in Wilmer, Stream Data Centers is building a 60,000-square-foot core and shell project that includes office space, a data hall, and “associated infrastructure,” according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

This phase also involves adding “critical and non-critical” power and cooling for the second and third 5-megawatt data halls.

According to its website, Stream Data Centers’ 77-acre campus in Wilmer is its newest build-to-suit development.

At full development, the 690,000-square-foot facility will support 90 megawatts. An Oncor substation will be built on the site to support the data center. The new Wilmer construction has a delivery date of January 2025.

Stream has built data centers in Garland, Plano, Richardson and Dallas, and in 19 other locations in several states.

The Dallas Morning News reported in May 2022 that the Wilmer project is in an area experiencing growth from construction and logistics firms of more than 20 million square feet of distribution and warehouse space.

A real-estate affiliate of Stream Realty Partners, Stream Data Centers has leased 90% of its inventory to Fortune 100 companies, according to its website.
