The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is hosting a challenge that is dedicated to the beautification of North Central Texas. The goal is to see which community can collect the most litter per resident. Fifteen communities, including Carrollton, Fort Worth, Frisco, Lake Dallas, and Plano, have joined the North Texas Community Cleanup Challenge.
Participants have until Oct. 31 to collect litter and clean up their communities. NCTCOG encourages communities, churches, boy scouts, girl scouts, companies, activists, and all citizens to organize litter cleanup events.
All cleanup activities need to be entered on the website. At the end of the contest, the community with the most litter collected per resident will receive the North Texas Community Cleanup award to display at their city hall.
The City of Fort Worth is taking the challenge seriously by encouraging residents to join the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful campaign. A Litter Stomp event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16, and all neighborhoods are invited to participate.
Additionally, Fort Worth individuals or groups can schedule their cleanup activity until Oct. 31, and it will count toward a win for Fort Worth. Once the cleanup activity is complete, submit results to Keep Fort Worth Beautiful. Those results will then be submitted to the NCTCOG.
Fort Worth residents who collect litter can visit the Neighborhood Litter Stomp website for designated areas to take the trash for easy removal.
