The head of Dallas’ Department of Aviation has been named one of DFW’s most influential leaders.
The Dallas Department of Aviation announced this week that its director, Patrick Carreno, has been honored in the special edition D CEO magazine as one of its Dallas 500 for 2024.
D CEO’s Dallas 500 list is a biographical database curated to showcase influential leaders shaping the business landscape in Dallas-Fort Worth.
“I am honored to be acknowledged among the distinguished leaders in the Dallas 500,” Carreno remarked in a news release. “This recognition is a testament to the City of Dallas’ Department of Aviation’s collaborative efforts and our commitment to advancing the aviation industry in the region.”
As the director of aviation, Carreno oversees three local airports, including Dallas Love Field, Dallas Executive Airport, and the Dallas Vertiport. Before becoming aviation director, Carreno served as assistant director of operations from December 2021 to November 2022 and as interim director from November 2022 to July 2023.
Carreno has served in various roles for a number of airports across the country and for an airline and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in aviation management and also holds a commercial pilot’s license.
Carreno was named to the Dallas 500 for his leadership in critical areas, including airport security, airside operations, landside operations, emergency management, and transportation regulation.
“Patrick’s dedication and leadership have significantly contributed to the success of our department,” Hilda Lopez, communications coordinator for the Dallas Aviation Department, wrote in an email to The Dallas Express.
Carreno’s inclusion in the Dallas 500 “represents the outstanding leadership and dedication that characterizes the City’s Aviation Department,” the department’s news release summarized. “The organization extends its congratulations to Patrick Carreno on this well-deserved recognition.”
As a fun tidbit, news of Carreno’s entry into the Dallas 500 coincides with the celebration of National Patrick Day, which is observed on November 28 each year.
