The key to maintaining a gorgeous decorative rug is knowing the dos and don’ts of rug care. On Saturday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Behnam Rugs, the self-proclaimed Rug Master, Ben Tavakolian, will host a free educational brunch to educate guests on topics relevant to rug ownership. His Let’s Talk Rugs seminar will be hosted at the Behnam Rugs showroom at 18000 Preston Road.
“It’s such a pleasure to bring the community together and host an event for people who appreciate this art form,” said Behnam Rugs owner and rug master Ben Tavakolian.
The event provides essential information for rug owners, rug lovers, interior designers, students, and anyone else looking to expand their knowledge of the care and procurement of fine rugs. Tavakolian will take the time to share his lifelong passion for the art and culture of fine rugs with the public.
Attendees will learn to identify the different types of rugs, materials, and designs. They will also learn how to care for these rugs to maintain their value. After the event, they will know how to differentiate between a machine-made carpet and a handmade rug, and between a genuine silk rug and an artificial silk rug.
In addition to the opportunity to learn in a casual and fun environment, guests are encouraged to bring their cherished rugs to the showroom for professional appraisal by Behnam’s certified Rug Master.
Radio station WRR 101.1’s Barry Samsula of the “Breakfast with Barry” show will broadcast from the event.
Traditional Persian food will be served, along with beverages and wine.
