Employers in Texas are hoping to attract new hires for the holidays with career days and events as they struggle to fill positions in advance of the holiday season.

CVS Health is one employer. They are looking to hire more than 3,000 new employees to fill open full-time positions and part-time and temporary jobs. CVS hopes to add pharmacists and techs to their pharmacy departments, add nurses to their Minute Clinic roster, and hire retail workers in locations throughout the state.

CVS plans to increase their help because the flu season is just around the corner and healthcare due to the recent increase in COVID cases. The drug and beauty giant is also increasing its hourly wages, a change that will begin this month.

The U.S. Postal Service in Texas is gearing up for the holidays as well, with plans to transport an increase in mail and packages. In an announcement, the USPS says that they need 4,800 seasonal and part-time workers. Two job fairs were recently held in Dallas. Openings are still available with the promise of competitive wages and benefits for those interested in positions.

With delivery workloads set to increase, UPS also needs help in the North Texas area. The company is looking to fill 5,000 positions. Many of these positions are for drivers and package handlers. In some cases, the company will also help college students stay with the company for a certain time frame by awarding them $1,300 towards their college tuition.
