North Texans may want to pack an umbrella this weekend.
Weather experts are anticipating cool temperatures and chances of rain across the metroplex this weekend, with precipitation expected to persist into early next week.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth (NWS) has predicted cool, cloudy, and foggy conditions across the North Texas region for November 16 and 17. Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid to high 60s across the region, while areas to the west will experience temperatures in the low- to mid-70s.
Meteorologists expect a cold front to arrive on November 17, bringing with it the return of rain to the metroplex, according to the NWS’s website.
“A fast-moving disturbance will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region late Sunday into Sunday night, followed by a strong cold front on Monday. Temperatures will fall back into the 50s behind the front with brisk north winds Monday afternoon,” stated the NWS on its website. ”A few lingering showers can be expected behind the front on Monday.”
David Bonnette, a meteorologist with the NWS in Fort Worth, told The Dallas Express that the storms will be “quick hitting systems” and that no severe weather is expected. November 20 will see a stronger weather system move through the area; however, this is expected to leave the region by the evening hours.
Weather officials expect conditions to remain dry leading to Thanksgiving Day, with temperatures remaining in the 60s and 70s.
“Thanksgiving Day looks to actually have pretty nice weather highs in the mid-60s, cool morning with highs in the mid-60s, so it would be pretty nice day on Thanksgiving,” said Bonnette.
The NWS anticipates temperatures to cool down with the onset of Black Friday and the following weekend.
