The American Bottling Company plans to invest $25 million and retain hundreds of jobs at its Irving facility under its current application for a state tax-incentive program.
On Thursday, Irving City Council is expected to adopt a resolution to nominate The American Bottling Company, a subsidiary of Keurig Dr Pepper’s Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc., for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program. According to city documents, it would be the fifth time since 2014 that Irving officials have nominated the company for the same designation. The other nominations did not win state approval.
“With the current application, The American Bottling Company estimates that it will invest approximately $25.0 million over the next five years and retain 500 jobs with an average annual salary of approximately $95,850 throughout the five-year designation at the qualified business site in the Irving facility,” the resolution states.
The plant in question is at 2304 Century Center Blvd.
The American Bottling Company estimates that at least 35% of new hires at the facility will either live in enterprise zones or be economically disadvantaged or a veteran — a requirement of state law. Texas communities must nominate companies in their jurisdictions to receive enterprise zone designations before being eligible to receive state sales and use tax refunds on certain expenditures.
“Should American Bottling Company be selected for the Enterprise Project designation, they will receive a state sales tax reimbursement (state portion) that will be reinvested in the Irving facility,” according to Irving city documents.
If approved, the enterprise zone designation would end on December 1, 2028.
The American Bottling Company’s Irving location manufactures, markets, and distributes beverages across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, according to the city documents.
