Former President Donald Trump’s social media platform began promoting President Joe Biden’s campaign account on Wednesday just days after the account was created.

The social media site sent an email to users on Wednesday that confirmed and tagged the current president’s new account.

“Dear Friend, Recently, Joe Biden’s presidential campaign joined Truth Social. You can find their account @BidenHQ here,” said Truth Social in the email, per CNBC.

Also included in the email was a link to Trump’s campaign account, which has the username @TeamTrump.

As of Thursday, Biden’s campaign account had roughly 5,000 more followers than that of Trump’s campaign account.

Biden’s campaign account has about 30,500 followers, while Trump’s has a following of around 25,400 users.

The Biden campaign account officially joined Truth Social on Monday. Its first post read, “Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!”

The account only follows one other account: @realDonaldTrump, which belongs to Trump.

While speaking with Fox News, Biden campaign officials said the account was created with the goal of “meeting voters where they are.”

The officials claimed that their plan is to fight against “mis and disinformation” while also “injecting our message” into the social media platform.

Biden’s campaign announced the move on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, writing that the Truth Social account would post “truths and retruths or whatever they call them.”

“We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny,” reads the X post.

The creation of the account comes as the 2024 presidential election draws closer, with Biden and Trump widely expected to be the candidates of their respective parties.

A recent poll by Grinnell College claimed Biden and Trump were virtually tied ahead of the election, with each enjoying roughly 40% of support from potential voters.

“Crooked Joe Biden and his team are finally acknowledging that Truth Social is hot as a pistol and the only place where real news happens,” said Truth Social spokesperson Steven Cheung, speaking with Fox News. “Unfortunately for Biden, his continuation of spreading misinformation to gaslight the American people in order to distract from his disastrous record won’t work, and they’ll be ratioed to oblivion.”
