Legendary Arlington Martin volleyball coach Tracy Perez-Petersen has stepped down from her post amid rumors she is set to take a girls coordinator position at Jobe Middle School in nearby Mansfield.
“Big changes are happening,” the school posted on Twitter. “Thank you to Coach Tracy Perez-Petersen for your 25 years of dedication to the Warrior Volleyball program. We wish you all the best.”
On Facebook, the school added “Thank-you and best wishes Tracy Perez-Petersen.”
In her time at the helm, Perez-Petersen led Arlington Martin to a 484-184 record, including a state championship.
Rhonda Dunn, who had been Perez-Petersen’s assistant coach and was named AISD Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019, has been promoted to head coach at Martin.
“I just decided it was time to spend more time with my kids,” Perez-Petersen told DallasNews.com “I decided I only had another year or two [in coaching]. I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.”
Perez-Petersen led the Warriors to a Class 5A state title in her first season at the school in 2005. She also led Arlington Martin to the 6A Region 1 final in 2017 and the regional semifinals four other times.
