A third COVID-19 vaccine injection for immunocompromised patients is now offered at Parkland Health & Hospital System.
The booster shot of Pfizer or Moderna is only available for immunocompromised individuals if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Received a transplant, such as a kidney, liver, or bone marrow
- Suffer from a condition that lowers the immune system, such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or HIV
- Take immune system lowering medications
The medication list is lengthy, so contact Parkland or your physician to see if your medication is on the list.
For individuals who qualify for a third vaccine jab, at least 28 days must have passed since they received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
Texans who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not eligible for a COVID-19 booster shot at this time.
If you meet the requirements for a third vaccine shot, make an appointment through a Parkland MyChart account or call the Parkland COVID Vaccine Hotline at 214-590-7000, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Drive-thru boost shots are available at Ellis David Field House on Wednesday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is needed when using the drive-thru site.
