Arlington senior-to-be offensive lineman Jacob Waller had a Fourth of July to remember as he committed to SMU on the nation’s 245th birthday.
The web site 247Sports reported that the 6-foot-5-inch, 284-pound Waller’s visit to the school just half an hour from his front doorstep last month was impressive enough to elicit a pledge to the Mustangs.
“More fireworks for #SMU on the 4th of July as Arlington (Tex.) OL Jacob Waller commits to the Mustangs,” SMU247 reporter Billy Embody tweeted on July 4. “AJ Ricker’s 2022 OL class comes together in the last month.”
SMU, which went 7-3 in 2020, bested 18 other schools, including two U.S. service academies, for Waller’s services.
He’s part of a Metroplex-heavy recruitment class that includes Quinton Harris from Arlington ISD rival Seguin.
