A river of water is flowing through downtown Fort Worth following a water main break early Thursday morning, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
Fort Worth Water tweeted footage of the break, which occurred in the 1300 block of W. Lancaster Avenue near Collier Street. The video shows torrents of water gushing from the main below the street, flowing over parking lots and through the city streets. A downed street sign can be seen poking above the surface of the flowing water.
We’ve had a large main break downtown this morning and repairs are currently underway. Lancaster is closed from Ballinger to Henderson so please seek an alternate route. We will keep you updated! pic.twitter.com/cyBTRHrxbZ

Streets in the affected area have been closed to traffic.
“Lancaster is closed from Ballinger to Henderson, so please seek an alternate route,” said Fort Worth Water in the tweet.
City workers have not publicly commented on the cause of this most recent water main break, one of many that Fort Worth has experienced this summer.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, many of the water pipes in Fort Worth are old and in need of replacement. In addition, the elevated summer temperatures have led to increased demand for water, adding more stress to the water system.
“I don’t wanna hear anything about watering my yard, lol,” commented Nick Grantham in response to the city’s post.
Crews are currently on the scene working to repair the main.
