The Texas Commission Force is a state agency whose main mission is to help Texas employers, workers, and communities to prosper economically. They release employment estimates in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
During the month of July, the Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded the lowest unemployment rate (4.0 percent) among Texas MSAs, followed by the Austin-Round Rock MSA (4.2 percent) and the Sherman-Denison MSA (4.6 percent).

Texas added 80,900 total nonagricultural jobs over the month of July making gains in 14 of the last 15 months. As the unemployment rate continues to decrease, Texas added a total of 714,800 jobs since July 2020.
Last month, Professional and Business Services employment gained 11,500 jobs. The Manufacturing industry added 8,300 positions, and the Leisure and Hospitality industry continued to grow with 20,600 additional jobs.
