The Frisco RoughRiders were the only local team in action Thursday night.
Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.
MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
Frisco RoughRiders (40-46, fifth in Texas League South Division, eighth in AA Texas League)
Last Game: RoughRiders 10, San Antonio Missions 3
Frisco scored five runs to take a commanding lead in the second as errors plagued San Antonio.
The Missions came within three runs, but Aaron Zavala and Evan Carter launched home runs to keep the RoughRiders in front, and Thomas Saggese scored an insurance run on a wild pitch.
Noteworthy: The RoughRiders are in the bottom half of the Texas League’s overall standings but are tied for third place in the South Division in the second half, three games behind Amarillo. If they can win the division in the second half, they will earn a playoff spot and a chance to defend their league title.
— Shortstop Luisangel Acuna notched his Texas League-leading 37th steal of the season in the sixth inning.
— Josh Hatcher knocked in two more runs, giving him 19 RBIs since being promoted to Double-A last month.
— Frisco starting pitching entered the game with a franchise-high 6.16 ERA this season. Thursday’s starter, Ryan Garcia, allowed three runs in three-and-one-third innings of work.
Next Up: San Antonio Missions (44-43) at RoughRiders, 7:05 p.m. CT Friday.

MLB
Texas Rangers (58-39, first in American League West)
Noteworthy: The Rangers released the official logo for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game, scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, at Globe Life Field. The logo features a classic Texas twist with the state outline wrapped around “All-Star Game” and the hyphen replaced with a star.
— After an off day on Thursday, the Rangers hold a four-game lead on Houston in the AL West, with a crucial three-game home series looming against the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
Next Up: Los Angeles Dodgers (55-40) at Rangers, 7:05 p.m. CT Friday.
