Powerball’s jackpot catapulted to one of its largest ever — a hefty $900 million — on Saturday while two Texans figured among three Match 5 winners, reeling in $1 million each.
Saturday night’s drawing yielded the numbers 2, 9, 43, 55, and 57. The Powerball was 18.
Two players in Texas and one in Colorado matched the five white balls, earning them $1 million each in prize winnings.
The two Texan winners purchased their winning tickets in Katy and Fresno.
The next Powerball drawing on Monday night is setting up to be the third-largest jackpot ever. There have been 37 consecutive draws without a winner, resulting in the prize winnings swelling.
If there are a few more winner-less drawings, the jackpot may start to rival the largest winnings ever seen in Powerball: $2.04 billion won last year and $1.586 billion won in 2016.
As previously reported in The Dallas Express, the record-breaking jackpot of over $2 billion was won by Edwin Castro, marking the first time the California Lottery made someone a billionaire.
The second-place 2016 jackpot of over $1.5 billion was split between three winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee, for over $500 million each before taxes.
While Powerball players across the country are vying to strike it big by matching all six balls in the next draw, the chances of winning are a slim 1 in 292,201,338.
The Powerball victor can opt for an annuitized prize valued at an estimated $900 million or a lump sum payment approximated at $465.1 million, as dictated by lottery officials.
Opting for the annuitized prize, the lucky individual would receive one payment immediately, followed by 29 more annual installments that increase by 5% each year.
Powerball isn’t the only game currently offering huge winnings.
The Mega Millions jackpot has ballooned to approximately $640 million, with the next draw slated for Tuesday evening.
Lotto Texas stands at a not-too-shabby $8 million, with the next draw happening Monday night.
The last time the Lotto Texas jackpot reached $8 million, it was taken home by a winner in Weatherford in late June, as previously reported in The Dallas Express. The winner opted for the cash value option, taking home $4,784,297.17 before taxes.
