The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex was filled with plenty of sports action over the weekend.

Here is what happened on the field, on the court, and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (50-34, first in American League West)

Last Games: Houston Astros 5, Rangers 3; Rangers 5, Astros 2; Astros 5, Rangers 3

The Rangers have lost two of the first three of their four-game set with Houston. The Astros used a three-run sixth inning to come from behind in the series opener and took Sunday’s game on four late runs thanks to a bases-clearing triple from Chas McCormick and a Jose Altuve solo home run. The Rangers got the victory Saturday as Nathan Eovaldi and Rangers pitching held Houston scoreless for eight innings.

Noteworthy: Texas’ lead in the AL West has dwindled to four games.

— Last week, four Rangers players were selected to start the MLB All-Star next week in Seattle. Eovaldi and outfielder Adolis Garcia were added to the American League roster as reserves on Sunday, giving Texas six All-Stars.

–Texas acquired veteran closer Aroldis Chapman from the Kansas City Royals on Friday in exchange for reliever Cole Ragans and outfield prospect Roni Cabrera.

— Eovaldi picked up his 10th win of the season on Saturday, becoming just the second Rangers pitcher to do so before the All-Star break in the last decade. He also leads the MLB with 112.2 innings pitched this season.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (33-40, fourth in Texas League South division, seventh in AA Texas League)

Last Games: San Antonio Missions 10, RoughRiders 3; Missions 2, RoughRiders 1; RoughRiders 6, Missions 4

The RoughRiders have lost three of their last five games. San Antonio built a 4-0 lead early, cruising to a 10-3 win on Friday, and returned the next night for a one-run victory, scoring the winning run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. The Roughriders earned a win Sunday behind another big game from Thomas Saggese.

Noteworthy: Rangers pitcher Jose Leclerc began a rehab assignment with Frisco on Sunday, throwing a scoreless inning and allowing no hits.

— Trevor Hauver extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 1-4 with an RBI.

— Luisangel Acuna continues to swing a hot bat with a 2-4 performance with two runs scored in Sunday’s win. He is hitting .302 with six home runs and 41 RBIs this season and leads the Texas League with 33 stolen bases.

Dallas Wings (8-8, second in Western Conference)

Last Game: Wings 89, Washington Mystics 72

The Wings trailed after the first quarter but took the lead on a Natasha Howard layup with 6:22 left in the half. Leading by four entering the third, Dallas took control of the game by outscoring Washington by 14. The Mystics never got back within single digits, and the Wings earned a home win.

Noteworthy: Satou Sabally led Dallas with 27 points and claimed her 11th double-double of the season, the second-most in the WNBA.

— Arike Ogunbowale passed Skylar Diggins to become the Wings’ all-time leading scorer.

— The 30 points in the third quarter tied Dallas’ best output this season.

FC Dallas (8-7-5, fifth in Western Conference)

Last Game: FC Dallas 2, Los Angeles FC 0

FC Dallas gets a shutout win over Los Angeles. Bernard Kamungo broke a scoreless tie at the 56-minute mark as he corralled the loose ball in front of the LAFC net off a throw-in. After Maarten Paes made a key save on LA’s Kwadwo Opoku, Dallas responded with a Sam Junqua goal to extend its lead heading into stoppage time. LAFC got off a few shots in the final minutes but never put one past Paes.

Noteworthy: FC Dallas is in fifth place in the Western Conference with 29 points, trailing first-place St. Louis by six.

— Junqua’s goal was just the second of his career and his first since 2020.

—  FC Dallas has scored 498 goals at Toyota Stadium and can reach 500 against D.C. on Tuesday.

Dallas Mavericks (offseason)

Noteworthy: The Mavericks re-signed guard Kyrie Irving, as previously reported by The Dallas Express, and center Dwight Powell to three-year deals.

— Dallas also signed guard Seth Curry to a two-year deal. Curry, the brother of Warriors guard Steph Curry, spent the last three seasons between Brooklyn and Philadelphia and will be joining Dallas for the third time in his career.

Dallas Stars (offseason)

Noteworthy: Free agency also started in the NHL over the weekend. Some of Dallas’ notable signings include forwards Matt Duchene, Craig Smith, and Sam Steel.

— The Stars also re-signed defenseman Joel Hanley and gave defenseman Jerad Rosburg a two-way contract extension.

— Defenseman Colin Miller has been traded to the New Jersey Devils for a 2025 draft pick.

— Forward Luke Glendening has signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Max Domi is heading to Toronto.
