Aaron Russell will begin his tenure as Lewisville’s newest director of public services on Wednesday, City Manager Claire Powell announced.

Russell had been chosen to succeed Keith Marvin, who retired in May after more than seven years of service, according to a news release from the city.

In Lewisville, the director of public services is responsible for administering, planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing various city operations, including traffic control, stormwater utility, utility operations, water/wastewater operations, environmental services, fleet and vehicle maintenance, and facilities maintenance, according to the job description included with the advertisement for the position.

“I am excited to be part of a team that has already accomplished so much,” Russell said in the release. “This is an incredible opportunity and I hope that my service will continue the tradition of great customer service and further Lewisville’s mission of building a diverse and connected community.”

Prior to being hired as Lewisville’s director of public services, Russell served two years as Weatherford’s assistant city manager and 13 years as Burleson’s director of public works. Russell has also held roles with the Town of Addison, the City of Decatur, and the City of Allen.

Russell holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University and has more than 20 years of combined experience in city government. His specialties include capital improvements, drainage, water, wastewater, solid waste operations, and fleet/facilities maintenance.

“We are excited for Aaron to join our team,” Powell said. “He has an extensive background in infrastructure maintenance, capital projects, and service delivery. Aaron’s focus on customer service, innovation, and collaboration makes him a perfect fit for Team Lewisville.

“He also brings with him a strong desire to mentor the next generation of leaders. Lewisville will truly benefit from the energy and passion he is going to pour into our community. I expect great things from him.”
