Last Game: Los Angeles Angels 5, Rangers 3

The Rangers held a 2-1 lead after three innings, but Mickey Moniak tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth and gave Los Angeles the lead with a solo home run in the seventh.

Shohei Ohtani’s two-run blast made it a 5-2 game in the eighth. Texas scored once in the ninth on a Nathaniel Lowe walk with the bases loaded, but Adolis Garcia struck out swinging to end the game.

Noteworthy: Texas’ lead in the Al West is down to 3.5 games.

— Ohtani’s home run tied him for the MLB lead with 22 this season. He was the Angels’ starting pitcher on Thursday and allowed two runs over six innings.

— Second baseman Marcus Semien, pitching coach Mike Maddux, and manager Bruce Bochy were all ejected after a controversial third strike in the seventh inning.

— Rangers’ starter Nathan Eovaldi gave up three runs and struck out nine batters through seven innings but took the loss for the first time since April. He had been 8-0 over his previous 10 starts.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (27-32, fourth in Texas League South Division, seventh in AA Texas League)

Last Game: RoughRiders 10, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 2

RoughRiders pitching held the Naturals to just five hits as Frisco’s offense carried it to a win. The Roughriders led 5-1 after four innings, Luisangel Acuna added a three-run homer to make it an 8-2 game in the eighth, and Frisco added two more in the ninth. Jorge Bonifacio hit two solo home runs for Northwest Arkansas.

Noteworthy: RoughRiders’ first baseman Nick Tanielu went 4-5 with an RBI while scoring three times. He is hitting .302 with a home run and five RBIs in June and is second on the team with seven home runs this season.

— Reliever Alex Speas is now 2-0 with an 0.76 ERA this season after pitching an inning and two-thirds with three strikeouts on Thursday.

— Frisco is now 20-14 when scoring the first run and 7-6 in the month of June.
