North Texas has yielded yet another big lottery winner.

A shopper at a gas station in Frisco has won $1 million on a $20 scratch-off ticket. The winner joins five other top prize winners who won similar amounts between October 2022 and February 2023.

This most recent winner gained the prize from the “$1,000,000 Crossword” scratch-off, with prices ranging from $20 to $1 million. Texas Lottery reports that there are over 19,000,000 tickets in this category, with the odds of winning any prize being about one in 3.41, or about 29%.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Racetrac in Frisco located at 4740 W. Main St. and was purchased on June 12.

The winner has asked to remain anonymous.

According to WFAA, thus far, only six out of the eight $1 million prize winners have stepped forward to claim their prize.

North Texas has seen its fair share of lottery winners in the past few weeks. An Arlington resident cried tears of joy and disbelief after winning the Lotto Texas jackpot in May, and there were several North Texas winners in April, as reported by The Dallas Express.

This is not the only million-dollar scratch-off game run by the Texas Lottery. Tickets for the $20 Million Supreme run much higher than standard scratch-offs, costing $100 each, with prizes starting at $150. In February, a Fort Worth resident won the $20 million prize, as reported by The Dallas Express.

Persons must be 18 years or older to purchase a lottery ticket.

The Texas Lottery reported that the last fiscal year was a record-breaking one. Of the almost $2 billion reaped in revenue, $1.972 billion went to the Foundation School Fund, a program that funds special programming services for Texas public school districts.

“The Texas Lottery has now contributed more than $29 billion to Texas public education and more than $192 million to Texas veterans since the dedication of such funds by the Texas Legislature,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.
