The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Dallas County until 10 p.m. Saturday.

Tarrant County was among the other counties included in the severe thunderstorm watch.

“This means conditions are favorable for severe storms,” the NWS said on its website. “The threats include damaging wind gusts up to 75 mph, hail up to 3 inches in diameter, and a tornado or two is possible. Stay weather aware! Be prepared to act should a warning be issued for your location.”

The Weather Service said if you’re not seeing rain or hail, don’t assume you’re in the clear.

“New outflow boundaries, separating the rain-cooled air from the hot and humid air, may lead to additional storm development north/west of ongoing storms,” it said in a tweet.

Monique Sellers, a meteorologist with NWS in Fort Worth, said heavy storms have started to develop southeast of Dallas, as was predicted yesterday.

“Most of the activity is to the south of Dallas, but in the next couple of hours, that could change,” Sellers told The Dallas Express on Saturday afternoon.
