Taste of Addison:
Taste of Addison, the renowned two-day festival that has been a part of the Addison community since 1993, is set to begin Friday, June 2.
The event offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse culinary offerings of Addison, with a musical entertainment guest list that won’t disappoint anyone.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday evening and will feature musical guests Tyler Kinchen and The Right Pieces and Swae Lee.
Taste Addison will also present a wide array of delectable dishes from nearly 30 top-notch local eateries, allowing visitors to sample the culinary delights that make the city a food lover’s paradise.
From savory bites to sweet treats, there’s something to satisfy every palate.
Single-day admission begins at $15 for 13 years and older, and for children ages 6-12, admission is $5.
Children five years and younger are admitted free of charge.

DeSoto Crawfish Festival:
DeSoto is gearing up for a culinary event that will delight foodies and music enthusiasts alike at the DeSoto Crawfish Festival.
Residents and visitors should flock to the festival grounds ready to indulge in delicious, spicy crawfish and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
The festival is a haven for seafood lovers that enjoy traditional Cajun recipes and innovative culinary creations.
The event begins Saturday evening, June 3, at 6 p.m. at Grimes Park in DeSoto.
Admission to this weekend’s festival is free.
The event will feature live entertainment from musical guests such as Willie Clayton, Drea Randle and The Odyssey Band, and Audacity.
The festival will be filled with the infectious rhythms of some of the most talented blues and funk, ensuring that attendees are transported into a world of groove and melody.

Plano’s 150th Birthday Celebration:
The City of Plano is preparing to celebrate yet another birthday.
Plano officials are inviting residents to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary this weekend. Officials will hold this celebration at Haggard Park on June 3.
Plano was originally settled by McBain Jameson and Jeremiah Muncey in 1844. The Texas State Historical Association records that these original settlers were killed by Native Americans, but later settlers who moved into the area from Peter’s Colony in 1845 met no resistance.
The settlement grew over the years and was eventually incorporated in 1873.
Plano plans to celebrate the anniversary downtown, where officials say the city’s history began. Mark Thompson, executive director of Visit Plano, told the Plano Star Courier that he is planning for thousands of citizens to participate in the festivities.
“Anytime you hit a milestone such as 150 years old, it is important,” said Mark Thompson, according to the Plano Star Courier. “It’s one of those things where we in the community get to celebrate our history and things to come. It’s an opportunity for the citizens to get together and celebrate.”
The celebration will feature a number of festivities, including live music from the Plano Symphony Orchestra and Plano Community Band, line dancing with a DJ, spirits from The Fillmore Pub, complimentary cupcakes, and more.
Thompson said that this year’s event will also have an older style of picnic gathering.
In addition to these festivities, citizens will also be able to visit booths from Plano’s departments, such as Plano’s Heritage Commission, the Plano African American Museum, Plano Masonic Lodge No. 768, and the Texas Pool.
The celebration will also feature activities and festivities for children, such as face painting, stilt walking, juggling, balloon artistry, and more.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. Citizens are also invited to attend an after-party at McCall Plaza at 8 p.m.
