U.S. Sen. Tim Scott signaled Friday that he intends to run for president.

The South Carolina Republican filed his paperwork to the Federal Election Commission.

When he makes his announcement official, Scott will join a GOP field that already includes former President Donald Trump and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce before the end of May, NBC News reported Thursday.

U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) endorsed Scott on Thursday. He is the first senator to endorse Scott.

“I think he is the closest to Ronald Reagan that you’re going to see,” Rounds told The Washington Examiner.
