Both pleasant and rainy weather are expected across the North Texas region for this upcoming week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth has predicted warmer weather as well as a chance of showers and storms for the first week of May. While no threats of severe weather are present, chances of showers and storms will return later in the week.

The NWS has predicted a warming trend throughout the duration of this week. “Pleasant and dry” seasonable temperatures will persist across the region, with temperatures rising from the 70s into the 80s over the course of the week before rising into the low 90s as the weekend approaches.

The warmest day of the week is expected to occur on Friday, May 5, with temperatures reaching into the 90s.

A small chance of storms is expected far west of the area during the overnight hours of Tuesday, May 2. However, these storm chances are isolated and not predicted to be severe.

Daniel Huckaby with the NWS in Fort Worth told The Dallas Express that weather patterns will get a little more “interesting” after Wednesday.

Thursday and the upcoming weekend will bring the chance for isolated showers and storms across the region. While storms are possible within this system, Huckaby said that the chance for severe weather is not as great as that seen last week.

“Early May is kind of our epicenter for severe weather, but thankfully, at least for this week, it doesn’t look like the ingredients are there for a lot of severe weather. We’ll have to keep an eye on that Thursday into the upcoming weekend,” said Huckaby.

Huckaby said that these isolated chances should arrive by the afternoon hours of May 4.

Despite the chances for rain, Huckaby said that citizens can expect to see pleasant and sunny weather during the weekend.

“There should be plenty of sunshine for the upcoming weekend, but we’ll have to keep those storm chances in,” Huckaby said.
