Batteries Plus, a repair franchise focusing on batteries, light bulbs, and key fobs, is opening 10 new locations in the DFW metroplex within the next five years, the company said in a press release last week.
“We’re confident that Batteries Plus will thrive in Dallas and prove to be well-poised for tremendous long-term growth in the area, especially given the growing demand for our industry’s product line in an increasingly battery-powered world,” said Joe Malmuth, chief franchising officer for Batteries Plus.
Batteries Plus started in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in 1988 and has expanded nationwide with more than 700 stores. The company expects to add an additional 60 franchise locations by the end of the year.
While the COVID-19 pandemic and related shutdowns hit many businesses hard, Batteries Plus continued to grow and thrive. As an essential retailer, the company was able to continue operations, reporting record-breaking sales in 2021 and 2022.
The average U.S. household has 28 battery-operated devices and 61 light bulb sockets, according to Batteries Plus. Multiply those figures by the number of households in the sprawling DFW area, and it is easy to see the potential for growth in North Texas.
In addition to serving household consumers, the company is also expanding in the commercial market as an essential B2B supplier. The franchise company sells products for various business sectors, including schools, churches, contractors, municipalities, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, property managers, and assisted living centers, to name just a few.
In Q1 2023, the company reported its highest commercial sales in company history.
