Authorities in Bell County on Sunday said they found the body of missing 25-year-old Tiera Strand, who had been missing since April 16.

The Bell County Sherriff’s Department confirmed her body was found on April 23.

Her body was sighted in a ditch beside a road in Bell County between Temple and Waco by a passing driver, who reported it to the police.

The cause and manner of the woman’s death are unknown and pending the determination of a medical examiner. Police did tell Strand’s father that foul play is suspected in the case.

Strand was last seen at Mooseknuckle Pub in Austin on the morning of April 16. The pub is located on Austin’s 6th Street, a popular bar district near downtown.

Strand’s mother, Monica Herron, told FOX 7 Austin that she believed her daughter was involved in a brawl at the bar and lost her personal belongings.

“They said she was angry with them, and they said she stormed off with no phone, no purse, no bank card, no money, keys to her car, everything just gone. They have it, and she just stormed off.”

It is unclear what took place between the last sighting of Strand in Austin and her body’s recovery a week later. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin Police Department are actively investigating the case.

Strand’s mother spoke at length about what kind of person Strand was prior to her body being recovered.

“This summer was the summer she was going to graduate, and she was going to go into the Navy. That’s her dream to go to the Navy. She’s a mother. She is ambitious. She has dreams and goals,” Herron said.

Closer to home, Dallas has also seen an increase in violent crime.

According to the Dallas Police Department’s crime analytics dashboard, as of April 24, cases of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter are up 22.7% year over year.
