The Texas Rangers traveled to Cincinnati to take on the Reds on Monday night.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (14-8, first in American League West)

Last Game: Cincinnati Reds 7, Rangers 6

The Reds came back from a 5-1 deficit to steal a win on a T.J. Friedl single in the bottom of the ninth. Third baseman Josh Jung homered twice and drove in three runs as the Rangers’ offense got Cincinnati starter Nick Lodolo for six runs, but Texas failed to score over the last five innings.

Noteworthy: Ezequiel Duran and Josh Jung were the only two Rangers with multiple hits Monday.

— Texas is now 6-4 on the road this season and 4-3 in interleague play.

— The Rangers have two more games against Cincinnati this week. Martin Perez will start Tuesday, and Jon Gray will start Wednesday.

— Outfielder Adolis Garcia was named last week’s American League Player of the Week after leading the American League in home runs, RBI, extra-base hits, and total bases. He also had a .400 batting average for the week.

Next Up: Rangers at Reds (8-15), 5:40 p.m. CT Tuesday

NHL

Dallas Stars (series tied 2-2)

Noteworthy: Roope Hintz leads the Stars and is third in the NHL with eight points (four goals and four assists) through four playoff games. Evgenii Dadonov and Tyler Seguin have three goals each.

— The Stars return to the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night with a chance to take their first lead of the series in Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild.

— Forward Joe Pavelski participated in the team’s morning skate on Monday. Pavelski has been in concussion protocol since taking a hit from Minnesota’s Matt Dumba in the second period of Game 1, missing the last three games and not traveling with the Stars to Minnesota over the weekend.
