The Irving Police Department is looking for a group of suspects who broke into a home early Sunday morning.

The violent home invasion happened at about 3:30 a.m. on April 16, in the 2800 block of Yorkshire St., according to the Irving Police Department.

A grandmother and her three grandchildren were terrorized during the incident and now are too afraid to return home.

“We’re not going to be in peace at our homes thinking that they made a threat, and they’re going to try to do it,” said one of the family members, per NBC 5.

According to Irving PD, multiple suspects broke into the home, forcing their way inside by breaking a window with a rock.

Once inside, the heavily armed group began to demand money.

They allegedly forced the youngest grandchild, aged 13, out of the bathroom, gathering the three grandchildren, the eldest being aged 17, in the master bedroom.

Police said that one teen was tased while another was pistol-whipped in the head, causing a wound that required several stitches, per NBC 5.

The grandmother was allegedly violently attacked by the suspects, who pistol-whipped her in the head and kicked her, causing several of her ribs to break.

“They didn’t care what age they were. They didn’t care if they were kids. Whatever they were, they just beat them with the gun,” said a family member of the victims, per NBC 5. “It’s horrible. Puddles of blood from my nephews and my mother in the rooms.”

Footage taken at the scene by NBC 5 shows that the home was ransacked, with a broken window and shattered glass everywhere.

In the video, a sizeable rock can be seen on the floor of the home that the suspects allegedly used to break in.

Before the suspects fled with the money and jewelry they had allegedly taken from the home, the family said that they poured bleach all around in an effort to destroy evidence.

During the incident, one of the suspects allegedly shot himself in the foot by mistake.

Robert Reeves, a spokesman for the Irving Police Department, confirmed the details.

“One of the suspects did shoot themselves in the lower leg or foot, and bleach was used throughout the home,” said Reeves speaking to The Dallas Express.

Irving PD is now on the hunt for the suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

In nearby Dallas, there have been 1,650 incidents of burglary or breaking and entering since the start of the year, per data from the city’s crime analytics dashboard. There have also been 4,306 assaults reported.

Just last week another home invasion in Oak Cliff left one man dead, as The Dallas Express reported. The 28-year-old victim Pedram Rezaei Haghighi had been shot several times inside his residence by his attackers.

The investigation is still ongoing and no suspects have been named by Dallas PD so far.
