On Saturday morning, the Nordstrom store at NorthPark Center in Dallas was evacuated due to a potential threat.
Officers responded to the mall around 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an “unconfirmed threat,” according to the Dallas Police Department.
As a precaution, parts of the mall were evacuated, and the Nordstrom store at NorthPark was closed pending DPD investigations.
The NorthPark Center is one of the largest enclosed shopping malls in the United States, with 200 stores and restaurants and several high-end stores, including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Macy’s. The center released a statement saying they were aware of the threat and being cautious with their decisions.
“NorthPark is aware of the situation involving threats to several area Nordstrom stores. Out of an abundance of caution, Nordstrom NorthPark is closed at this time as DPD investigates,” a NorthPark spokesperson said, per WFAA.
Although the police did not specify the nature of the threat, sources informed NBC 5 that the store was being evacuated, but the rest of the mall was operating normally. Video footage shared on social media platforms showed groups of people standing outside the mall as police responded.
The store was reopened around 1 p.m. after DPD had confirmed that the threat to Nordstrom NorthPark was “unsubstantiated,” according to The Dallas Morning News.
NorthPark officials also confirmed that the center would remain open during normal business hours. Dallas residents and shoppers are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity or behavior to the authorities.
The police have not made any arrests or issued statements regarding a potential suspect. Dallas Fire-Rescue said one person was taken to the hospital, but they did not disclose the individual’s injuries or condition, per WFAA.
