The 2023 Big East-Big 12 Battle matchups were officially announced on Thursday.

The competition will consist of 11 men’s college basketball games between the two conferences as part of the non-conference slate in late November and early December.

The Big East will host six games, while the Big 12 will host the remaining five.

The event began in 2018 and will continue for the fifth consecutive season.

Here is the schedule. Tip-off times will be announced at a later date.

Texas Tech at Butler, November 30
Creighton at Oklahoma State, November 30
Iowa State at DePaul, December 1
Houston at Xavier, December 1
Connecticut at Kansas, December 1
St John’s at West Virginia, December 1
TCU at Georgetown, December 2
Texas at Marquette, December 5
Providence at Oklahoma, December 5
Villanova at Kansas State, December 5
Seton Hall at Baylor, December 5

Many of the premier teams in college basketball will be involved in the Big East-Big 12 Battle, including Connecticut, Texas, Marquette, Xavier, Kansas, Baylor, and Creighton.

Texas, Marquette, Xavier, Kansas, and Baylor were all three seeds or higher in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, and Creighton was seconds away from reaching the Final Four.

Texas Tech will make its fourth appearance in the battle, traveling to Butler. The Red Raiders are 1-2 in their previous Big East-Big 12 matchups, beating Georgetown last season and losing to Providence and DePaul.

Texas will be facing former head coach Shaka Smart when the Longhorns play Marquette. Smart spent six years as the head coach in Austin and posted a 109-86 record before returning to his home state to coach the Golden Eagles. He is 48-20 in two years with the program, leading the team to 29 wins this season.

Houston has won four conference championships in the last five seasons as a “mid-major” and faces another of the country’s top “mid-major” programs in Xavier.

TCU will play Georgetown for the second time in three years. Georgetown has replaced head coach Patrick Ewing with Ed Cooley, whose Providence team lost to the Horned Frogs in the 2022 edition of the event.

Baylor hosts a Seton Hall team looking to get back on track after missing the NCAA Tournament this season. Baylor comes off another great year and will try to beat its eighth different Big East opponent.

Big 12 champion Kansas hosts defending national champion UConn in a battle of historic college basketball programs.

All ten returning members of the Big 12 will participate in the event, while Houston is the only one of the four new members involved. Cincinnati, BYU, and UCF will not participate in their first season in the conference.
