The Mavericks, Stars, and Rangers all played over the weekend.

Here is what happened on the field, on the court, and behind the scenes.

NBA

Dallas Mavericks (36-35, second in Southwest Division, sixth in Western Conference)

Last Game: Mavericks 111, Los Angeles Lakers 110

Dallas wins on a Maxi Kleber three at the buzzer in its first game against the Lakers without Luka Doncic this season. After leading most of the game, Dallas found itself behind midway through the fourth quarter. With six seconds left, Dallas made its final chance count as Kyrie Irving found Kleber, who had just enough room and time to put up the winning shot.

Noteworthy: Irving had been questionable for the game but played 39 minutes and led the Mavs with 38 points. Kleber had 10 points on 2-4 shooting.

— The Mavericks are now 3-1 against the Lakers this season.

— Dallas is in sixth place in the Western Conference, holding a playoff spot with 11 games remaining in the regular season.

— Golden State, Oklahoma City, Minnesota, Utah, and the Lakers are all right on the Mavericks’ heels.

NHL

Dallas Stars (38-19-13, first in Central Division, third in Western Conference)

Last Game: Stars 6, Calgary Flames 5 (overtime)

After taking a 3-1 lead in the first period, Dallas allowed Calgary to score three unanswered goals to take the lead. Jason Robertson tied things for Dallas just before the second intermission, and Jani Hakanpaa’s sixth goal of the season sent the game to overtime. While the game appeared to be heading for a shootout, Robertson took a long pass and beat Calgary goalie Jacob Markstrom on a backhand in the final seconds.

Noteworthy: Robertson’s game-winner was his 41st goal of the season, making him the first player to score at least 40 goals in back-to-back seasons since the Stars moved to Dallas. Dave Gagner and Dino Ciccarelli each did it when the team was in Minnesota.

— Robertson is closing in on the Stars’ single-season points record, trailing Mike Modano by six with 12 games to play.

— With his 20th goal of the season, Wyatt Johnston became the fourth Dallas rookie to score 20 goals in a season. He has the third-most goals as a teenager in franchise history and leads all NHL rookies in goals this season.
