Although the Dallas City Council is still in recess, Dallas City Hall will still see several important committees meet this week to hear updates on various City initiatives.

The Quality of Life, Arts, and Culture Committee will convene at 9:00 a.m. on March 20th in the main council chambers. The committee members will hear briefing updates from the Dallas Museum of Art on its city impact.

Additionally, the committee will receive a briefing from City staff on the proposed ordinances to require short-term rentals to register with the City and adhere to certain property requirements.

Later, at 1:00 p.m., the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will convene for the first time since its joint meeting with some of DART’s board of directors, as covered by The Dallas Express.

The agenda includes updates on TxDOT programs, public works initiatives, and the Bachman Lake Area planning study. The committee members will also receive a briefing on Dallas’ “Smart Cities Initiatives.”

On Tuesday, March 21st, the Housing and Homelessness Solutions Committee will meet in the council chambers at 9:00 a.m. Briefings and updates will be given on the Dallas Housing Resource Catalog, mixed-income housing development, the Homeless Action Response Teams, neighborhood revitalization, and various other items related to land use and grants.

The Government Performance and Financial Management Committee will also convene at 1:00 p.m. on March 21st. The Development Services Department and the Office of the City Auditor will brief the members. The committee will also receive a budget accountability report, a technology accountability report, and a budget report for fiscal year 2021-22.

Because of the recess, the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on March 22nd has been canceled, Dallas’ Public Information Officer Jennifer Brown told The Dallas Express. City Council will not meet again until next month.

Various other groups will gather at City Hall this week, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Board on the 20th, the Board of Adjustment on the 21st and 22nd, and the City Plan Commission on the 23rd.
