An air fryer manufacturer has recalled nearly 2 million units over risks of the product overheating and catching fire.
About 2 million Cosori Air Fryers sold across physical and online retailers in the U.S. were recalled by the manufacturer Thursday due to risks of catching fire, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC noted that about 250,000 Cosori Air Fryers were sold in Canada, and roughly 21,000 were sold throughout Mexico.
The CPSC recalled the Cosori Air Fryers after receiving 205 reports from customers of their air fryers “catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking.” The CPSC received 10 reports of minor, superficial burn injuries and 23 reports of minor property damage in connection with the recalled air fryers.
After further investigation, the air fryers were found to suffer from a faulty wire connection that led to overheating, which posed “fire and burn hazards,” the recall said.
Cosori Air Fryers were recalled from Best Buy, Target, and Home Depot stores nationwide, as well as from online retailers like Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Kohls.com, and Lowes.com, among several others.
Consumers who own any of the recalled units are advised to immediately stop using the product and contact Cosori to receive their choice of a free replacement air fryer or another Cosori product. Customers can receive their replacement by registering at recall.cosori.com.
