Here are some local events to attend for this February 25 weekend:

“Taste of Soul” Soul Food Cook-off

If you like good food and have the hankering to get out of the house this weekend, head to the “Taste of Soul” soul food cook-off at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center in southern Dallas. The four-hour event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The cook-off, which is part of the center’s Black History Month celebration, spotlights the many varieties of soul food. Attendees can sample the offerings and vote for their favorite dishes, which will be prepared by local chefs and businesses.

One grand prize winner will go home with a cash prize of $750, and the first prize winner in each category will receive $500.

In addition to food, the event will also feature raffles and prizes, a photo booth, and live entertainment. Admission to the event is free, but donations will be accepted at the door.

‘In Love With Your Man’

In Love With Your Man is an adult-themed stage play where things get a little spicy as old flames become new fires.

The play is written and directed by DeMarcus Bailey of JF Bailey Productions and presented by the DeSoto Park and Recreations Center in conjunction with Snoop Robinson.

There will be two shows presented, and tickets range from $30-$40. The play will be hosted in the DeSoto Corner Theater.

If that isn’t enough to get you out of the house, perhaps a Swapapalooza will.

Swapapalooza

For the first time ever, a Swapapalooza popup will be held at the Four Corners Brewing Company in Dallas.

Swapapalooza will showcase different artworks from local artists and handmade designs from local vendors from the DFW area.

Swapapalooza will also showcase toys, shoes, and clothing.

The event will be held on February 26 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
