Purdue’s loss to Indiana had little effect on its ranking, as the Boilermakers remained atop the AP Top 25 Poll that was released on Monday, albeit with fewer first-place votes.

The Boilermakers (22-2) were the unanimous No.1 team in the country entering last week but suffered their second loss of the season on Saturday against in-state rival Indiana. The Hoosiers moved up to No.18, despite losing to Maryland earlier in the week.

The rest of the top 10 includes Houston, Alabama, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia, Kansas, and Marquette.

Tennessee (19-4) dropped from No.2 to No.6 after a week that included a 13-point loss to Florida and a narrow, low-scoring win over Auburn. Auburn dropped out of the poll after being ranked No.25 last week.

Virginia, Gonzaga, and Kansas were among the other teams that fell.

That cleared the way for Houston (22-2) to jump to No.2 as the highest-ranked team in Texas. Joining the Cougars in this week’s poll are Texas (No.5), Baylor (No.14), and TCU (No.17).

Houston hosts Tulsa on Wednesday night in its only game this week.

Texas rose five spots thanks to wins against No.11 Baylor and No.7 Kansas State last week. The Longhorns face a challenging week, with a visit to No.9 Kansas on Monday night and a home game against West Virginia on Saturday.

Baylor dropped to No.14 after losing to the Longhorns, and TCU’s road loss to Oklahoma State moved the Horned Frogs down to No.17.

The Bears host Oklahoma on Wednesday before meeting the Horned Frogs on Saturday in Fort Worth. TCU will prepare for Baylor by traveling to No.12 Kansas State.

The Big 12 keeps a nation-best six teams in the rankings as Iowa State (No.11) and Kansas State (No.12) join the aforementioned teams. The Big East Conference is second with five teams in the rankings.
