Obituary for Nancy Jane Curington
Nancy Jane Curington, of Garland, Texas passed away on May 26, 2021, at the age of 84. She was born on June 21, 1936, to Pastor Jimmie L. and May Belle Garrett in Wortham, Texas. Nancy met the love of her life while attending Lubbock High School and married Jordan Curington on April 15, 1954. They would spend the next 67 years together raising five children and enjoying their 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Nancy was one of the telecom pioneers having been a public speaker and supervisor of the mainframe computer for Southwestern Bell, as well as a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She loved the Lord, was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and instilled in her children a desire to do the same. Nancy enjoyed bowling, crafts, and singing for the Southwestern Bell Singers. She was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her husband, Jordan Curington; sons, David Alton Curington and his wife Patti; and Darrin Wayne Curington and his wife Lana; daughters Denise Diane Hayes and her husband Richard; Donna Lynn Mattson and her husband Mark; Debbie Suzanne Clarke and her husband Butch. Also, to remember her are brothers Bobbie Garrett, and Hubert Garrett and his wife Sherry; sisters Phyllis Lambert and her husband Gerald; and Jeanie Taylor and her husband Phil. Nancy was blessed to have many nieces and two nephews. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 12:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
