Hilda “Cherry” Brotherman, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on June 3, 2021, at the age of 81. Cherry was born to Jose and Beatrice Minjares on June 9, 1939, in El Paso, Texas.

Always excelling in school, Cherry treasured her memories and friendships of El Paso High School. Cherry attended nursing school at the University of Texas in Galveston, where she met the kindest and most thoughtful man in the world, Don Brotherman. They were married on June 22, 1963, and shared a beautiful life together for 58 years. Don and Cherry were wonderful parents to their four children, and they built their family on a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.

During her life, Cherry enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. A loving grandmother, Cherry was always attending sporting events to cheer on her grandchildren. She was the perfect hostess and would never let anyone leave her house hungry. Cherry loved her family’s Christmas celebrations and initiated long-lasting traditions of songs and nativity reenactments with her grandchildren. Cherry has been involved with the Catholic Church in every phase of her life. She has been a Eucharistic minister, chaired various committees, served as a lector, and was involved in the women’s ministries. She has served on the school board at St. Paul’s school. Cherry was a member of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, as well as a Dame in the Order of Malta. Cherry and Don have been active in at least ten foreign missions, bringing ophthalmic medical care to the poor in several countries over the years.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Brotherman, Cherry is survived by her daughters Pam Moninger and her husband, George; Debbie Farver and her husband, Chris; Becky Bradfield, and her husband, Jeff; and son, Michael and his wife Amy, as well as 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
